The perfect introduction to creativity.
Our Children's Creative Class is specially designed for young artists taking their first steps into the world of art. Each term includes at least three original Pathway projects, allowing children to explore a wide range of artistic media including:
Acrylic Painting/ Watercolour/ Sculpture/ Mixed Media/ Crafts/ Printmaking and more
Rather than focusing on one medium, our curriculum encourages children to experiment, discover and build confidence through creative play.
Every project is uniquely designed by Pathway to develop imagination, fine motor skills, problem-solving and artistic confidence—creating a strong foundation for their future creative journey.
1 Hour ｜ 10 Sessions per Term | Max of 6 students per class
This course encourages young artists to become confident creators through exciting multimedia projects. Every term features at least three original Pathway-designed projects using a variety of materials and techniques including:
Acrylic Painting/ Watercolour/ Sculpture/ Drawing/ Mixed Media/ Craft Construction
Students are encouraged to explore different ways of making art while developing observation, composition, colour understanding and creative problem-solving.
Rather than teaching students to simply copy artwork, Pathway helps children understand how artists think, experiment and create, giving them the confidence to develop their own artistic style.
1.5 Hours | 10 Sessions per Term | Max of 6 students per clas
Each term includes three or more original multimedia projects, exploring mediums such as:
Acrylic Painting/ Watercolour/ Sculpture/ Mixed Media/ Illustration/ Design Projects
Students learn not only how to use different materials, but also why artists choose particular techniques to communicate ideas.
The extended class time allows students to spend more time developing their ideas, refining techniques and creating more sophisticated artworks.
By encouraging experimentation across multiple disciplines, Pathway helps students discover their own strengths and interests while building a strong creative foundation for future specialised studies.

Bring your drawings to life.
This original Pathway course introduces students to the foundations of traditional 2D animation through structured exercises and creative project development.
Students learn essential animation principles including:
Construction Drawing/ Character Design/ Perspective/ Movement/ Gesture Drawing/ Timing & Motion/ Storytelling through Visuals
Rather than jumping straight into finished animations, students focus on developing the fundamental drawing skills professional animators rely on.
Throughout the term, students compile a development board showcasing practice exercises, research and technique exploration before producing at least one polished final animation project.

Develop the skills behind great paintings. This course focuses on building strong traditional painting foundations before progressing towards finished artworks.
Students explore: Colour Theory/ Light & Shadow/ Brush Techniques/ Composition/ Portrait Painting/ Still Life/ Creative Painting Processes
Every project follows a structured development process, allowing students to experiment, refine techniques and understand the thinking behind successful artwork.
Students produce a development board documenting exercises and studies before completing at least one resolved final painting.
This course is ideal for students preparing for secondary school art programmes or those wishing to strengthen their painting skills.

Discover the beauty and versatility of watercolour through a structured, skill-based course designed by Pathway.
This course introduces students to the essential techniques of watercolour painting while encouraging creativity, observation and personal artistic expression. Students will explore a variety of subjects and progressively build confidence in using this unique medium.
Students will learn: Watercolour techniques and brush control/ Colour mixing and layering/ Light, shadow and transparency/ Landscape, botanical and still life painting/ Expressive watercolour techniques
Rather than focusing only on finished artworks, students follow a guided creative process by developing studies, experimenting with techniques and documenting their progress before producing at least one resolved final painting.
Every project is originally designed by Pathway to help students build strong technical foundations while developing their own artistic style and confidence with watercolour.

Turn creative ideas into digital reality.
Designed for the next generation of creative professionals, this course introduces students to industry-standard digital tools while strengthening their design thinking and artistic foundations.
Students may work with software including:
Procreate/ Adobe Photoshop/ Adobe Illustrator/ SketchUp
Projects cover digital illustration, graphic design, concept art, digital painting and basic 3D visualisation.
Rather than simply learning software, students learn how to communicate ideas visually, combining traditional artistic principles with modern digital workflows.

Our One-on-One Creative Mentoring sessions are fully customised to support students at every stage of their creative journey. Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for NCEA Art, building a university portfolio, developing professional skills, or simply exploring a new creative hobby, our experienced tutors will create a tailored learning plan just for you.
